Join Good Company: A Vocal Ensemble for a choral workshop and concert featuring acclaimed Norwegian-born composer and pianist, Ola Gjeilo. Mr. Gjeilo is one of the most loved and frequently performed choral composers in the world today. After studying at London’s Royal Academy of Music and Juilliard, Mr. Gjeilo made New York City his official home. He’s known for his lush, atmospheric style that’s strongly influenced by film scores, pop culture and jazz. Mr. Gjeilo’s bestselling recordings include Stone Rose, Piano Improvisations, Winter Songs and Phoenix Chorale’s Northern Lights, named iTunes Best Classical Vocal Album of 2012.
On November 3 at 3 p.m., Mr. Gjeilo will lead a workshop offering tips on choral singing techniques and answer questions about his music and creative process. Then on November 4 at 4 p.m., Mr. Gjeilo and Good Company will present Serenity, a concert of Gjeilo works for chorus, piano and strings. The program will feature Ola Gjeilo on piano and Amethyst Strings. Selections include Northern Lights, The Spheres, Spotless Rose and more.
